Period Piano

Krzysztof Książek’s adventure with performing on period instruments began in 2015 with a recital on an Érard instrument from 1855 during the  Chopin and His Europe Festival. Its focus became music and instruments from Chopin’s time. In March 2018, the artist presented a replica of Buchholtz’s instrument from around 1825 during a concert at the Teatr Wielki – Opera Narodowa, where he performed Frederic Chopin’s Piano Concerto in F minor, Op. 21 together with Collegium 1704 under the baton of Václav Luks, alongside the Fugue and Coda on the theme “Jeszcze Polska nie zginęła”. In 2018, the pianist was awarded 3rd prize and a special prize for the best performance of mazurkas at the 1st International Chopin Competition on Period Instruments. The artist has also collaborated with the {OH!} Historical Orchestra and Orchestra of the Eighteenth Century.  He played on instruments from Chopin’s times (and their replicas) of the following brands: Érard, Pleyel, Graf, Buchholtz, Broadwood.
